So for this you'll be just adding the smaller areas together, and seeing if they equal the larger area.

[tex]3^2+5^2=8^2 \\ 9+25=64 \\ 34 \neq 64[/tex]

By adding the 2 smaller areas together, we see that they do not equal the larger area.
